HPI Racing - RS4 Super Nitro I recently built the HPI Racing Super Nitro kit with a Porsche Twin-Turbo body. There is a local club that races on an unused parking lot on Sunday afternoons and I thought that it would be fun to mess around with a street car. I have the 2 speed transmission and tuned exhaust installed. I found that you also need to purchase foam tires to be able to be competitive at the local track. I use a 35 durometer rated foam tire all the way around. Smaller numbers are harder compound and larger is softer. Some people run a 25 front and 45 rear. I've tried this combo as well but I didn't get to use it long enough before I couldn't get the tires from the same manufacturer as before. Below is a picture of the car when I first got it. With the .15 engine and the 2-speed tranny, this car will do about 47mph. It's quick and it's all-wheel drive. Here's a shot of the car in it's first iteration.
The chassis is quite remarkable. It's completely adjustable for ride height, spring stiffness, preload, shock damping, camber, caster and toe. I bought two tools to get started, a camber gauge and a "toe-stick". Recently, I bought another Super Nitro for Brandon as well. Since it's winter time as I write this, we have only been able to get to the track once. His car doesn't have the 2 speed or tuned exhaust. I gave him a set of my used foams and now he's trying to get the hang of driving it. I gave him my red body in favor of the new body that I just built to resemble our profession race team's car #18.
Here's a picture of the real car for comparison.
