Family Vacation 2001

Every year for the past 6 years (at least), we have tried to get together in the summer for a week at the beach.  Since my brother's live in NC and TX, we have traditionally gone to Myrtle Beach.  This year, we decided to try the Outer Banks.  There were varied opinions of the place, but I doubt we will return.  First of all, there's only one bridge on and off the island.   Getting to our rental on Saturday meant sitting in traffic for almost 2 hours to go approximately 7 miles.  Once there, there is little to do without a 15-20 min drive.  Even then, there's little to do.  Doesn't bother me in the least as the kids just want to play at the beach all day anyway.  And, speaking of the beach, it was cool for the adults as the waves were big and rough, not so great for the kids.  That's probably the single most important reason that we wouldn't go back.
