Estes Park, Colorado

Our first official stop was supposed to be an amusement park and campground in Des Moines, IA.  However, we were running a little behind schedule and it was pouring there.  So, we stopped briefly at an indoor train exhibit and moved on towards Estes Park.

We arrived Wed afternoon at Spruce Lake Campground in Estes Park, about 1 mile from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park.  Highlights from this stop included fishing for Brandon (practically all he wanted to do), a drive to the top of the Rockies and a hike to one of the summit's.  There was still some snow at 12,000ft. so the boys got to play around in it.  A visit to a Scandanavian festival for some great pancakes and a little 4wheeling adventure.  Beautiful weather for the entire stay at the campground.

Here's some pictures from our stay in the Rockies.

First, the view from the campground and our campsite.

Here's a couple photo's from our drive through the park.

After all that hiking, Geoff was wiped out (Lucy too even though she didn't go)

Just one photo from 4 wheeling as the more difficult trails were closed (quite disappointing)
