St. Anthony, Newfoundland At long last, after many days of travel and stops, we have reached St. Anthony, the pinnacle of our trip (or, that's how it was supposed to be). We planned 4 days in St. Anthony to see things like whales, Viking Settlements, Icebergs and other nifty things that this town had to offer. As with any plan, you need to have some flexibility for weather. For here, we encountered two full days of constant rain and temperatures in the 30's! This is in July! I moved our return ferry ticket by a day so that we could wait it out and do the whale/iceberg tour on a sunny day and we did get to do that. We arrived at the Triple Falls RV Campground, just outside of town late in the afternoon. The weather was still quite nice on arrival so we decided to hike the trail that followed the "Triple Falls" where the campground gets it's name. Nothing that the boys would have liked better than a good "hike" after all of the travel time in the RV. Here they are, two "loving brothers" ready for a hike. Remember, it's JULY up here. First off, we discovered that humans were the only one's using this trail! And what a trail it was, this photo doesn't really do it justice. But, the boys found the water and to them, the hike was worth it. Finally, we got to the falls themselves. At least the steeper ones. I tried to get to the top, but ran out of trail! |
