Home Up Camping Weekend GrandPa's 90th Beach Trip 2000 Watkins Glen B&O Railroad

B&O Railroad Museum

This past weekend we took a trip into Baltimore to the B&O Railroad museum.  Although there weren't any trains to ride on like Strasburg, there were still a lot of trains to climb on and look at.

In the parking lot, a few large steam engines were parked.  As you can see, Brandon almost doesn't make it to the centerline of the wheel.

Once inside, there was a small museum section leading to the roundhouse.  They were arranged somewhat in date order in a circle.

Here's an early unit from Europe.

There was one locomotive that the boys could climb on and play engineer.

Another section had a few "hand powered" units.

Here's an interesting vehicle, a modified Dodge for inspecting the lines.

In the early days, this was a "fancy" form of travel.

There were even a few Diesel's in the roundhouse.

That's about it!
